INNOVATION CAMP: AN UNFORGETTABLE EXPERIENCE IN FINLAND FOR GIRAMUNDO FINLÂNDIA II
(by Ana Jaqueline Magalhães)
It was October 23, Inkala Manor’s
nature (and the big and lovely dog, Reiska) was a prediction of how those 2
days would be: an unforgettable experience in our lives. The houses, the lakes,
the trees of falling leaves, the design inside the house, the food, the
reception we had, everything were an invitation for us to share lived experiences
and to experience other ones. The presence of our teachers on the entire
activities was one more expression of affection, making us feel as very
important people.
I’d like to share with you the most
important moments we had in the Innovation Camp. In the first day, Essi Ryymin,
one of the teachers responsible for the camp, presented us some theoretical
foundation of education in Finland, 900 years Finland’s history, some popular
Finnish artists, games, companies, etc, for us to be contextualized on the
Finnish society and education. Afterwards, she proposed a sharing moment: talk
to our partners about our memorable teacher’s adjectives. The adjectives were
listed and, even existing many repeated words, many adjectives were mentioned.
This afternoon, as well, Teacher Simo Uusinoka, taught us a Finnish traditional
song: “Missä se väinö on”.
Later, in the evening, we had some
moments of leisure: sauna and hot tub were the nicest experiences. Then, the
dinner prepared for us was an amazing time. And the night finished with some of
us singing in the karaokê. A great evening!!!
In the day after (and the last day
of Innovation Camp), after the breakfast, Mr. Simo proposed for us teachers an
activity to think about our dreams, specifically, a “Dream to 2019”. Five steps
to reach this dream: 1st – the dream itself, 2nd - the
aims of this dream, 3rd - its benefits to me and my surroundings, 4th
– who can help me, and 5th – which skills do I already have to reach
my dream. In the second moment, Ms. Essi returned to invite us to participate
of a moment of reflection about education, lifelong learning, and other
discussions about education in general, using a kind of game called Mega
Trends, when we had the chance to choose the cards to work. After that, the
socialization of the work was made in the Learning-café method: we all read the
contributions made for our partners to each question proposed by Mega-Trends.
Coffee time, and then, the return to Hämeenlinna.
Dream to 2019
Mega-Trends
Till the next post!
